Brit is a teacher who works with disadvantaged kids, and who is hiding two secrets: one, she is asexual and as such unwilling to have her own kids, even though she dearly wants them. And two, she has the ability to feel the presence of harmful spirits, and manifest them into a physical form that she can then destroy. When in the countryside at an Experience Outreach, helping her students develop a martial arts performance, Brit is separated from the group and encounters malevolent spirits that are said to cause some people to kill themselves. Her ability gives the spirit she encounters the form of a nest of bees, who trap her in royal jelly and make her their queen, but she is able to manifest fire in order to set herself free. Knowing the kids are still in danger from the deadly spirits in the area, she incorporates pollen and flowers into their martial arts performance. Symbolically anointing the kids in the way of bees makes them 'hers', as much as if she'd birthed them herself - and it will keep them under her protection.
