A rodeo is happening in Coyote, New Mexico. A young Native American boy named Sant watches as men after men try to get on the wild horses and tame them. He sees Lamaitre, a renowned rider, come into town. Having hailed from the town and become a famous city cowboy, he’s back to pay his respects and judge the competition. However, the crowd cheers for him to get on the horse himself. Sant gets in the way as Lamaitre starts riding the horse, putting himself in danger. Luckily, Lamaitre is able to tame the horse, despite medical difficulties, and pull Sant safely away. Afterward, Lamaitre escorts Sant home and gives him a business card to remember him by. Sant’s mother demands where he was all day, and he says he’s been “up there,” pointing to Coyote, and sees he’s got the piece of paper to prove it.
