Plot Summary
Dennis Halter, a man in his twenties, wakes up to find himself in the afterlife. He encounters famous individuals from the past and from history, like deceased presidents and pop stars. As he converses with friends of his past, Dennis realizes that he didn't die from a diabetic coma, but rather his wife murdered him.
He ends up finding his relatives, most notably his cousin who he once had a love affair with as a child. He also finds a flight attendant who prompts him to recollect on his death.
Dennis also includes lists of things he never completed while he was alive. While some include goals like being rich, other goals are more directed at problems within his marriage. Dennis is prone to cheating and not treating his wife right.
In the end, Dennis realizes that his wife has recently died and tries to interact with her. She had accidentally killed Dennis with his sleeping pills, which she admits to, but refuses to discuss with him. Dennis ends up accepting his life and death, thanks to the aid of his cousin Melanie, whom he runs into the endless fields of the afterlife with.
