A woman looks for a place to live in a town entirely comprised of churches, (but discovers...)

An overweight journalist navigates a strange friendship with a legendary writer and finds his life curiously entwined with one of the writer's students, a fiery young girl.

As per tradition in her country, a young girl of a mysterious Order is chosen to bear the launch codes of sere missiles embedded in her heart. To activate the missiles, the president of her country must personally cut open her chest to extract the code capsule.

Mrs. Berthelson is the only human that can travel through time, so she journeys to a post-apocalyptic Earth where she tries to sell life-saving supplies to the last surviving humans as they are about to escape the planet.
