Plot Summary
A young country girl goes to the city to find a job. She gets hired to work for a department store, but her task is unconventional. The store owner, impressed by her sad facial expressions, has her sit motionless in front of the store window. Her ability to sit still attracts crowds of people. Even though she doesn't lift a finger, she begins to feel exhausted every time she finishes her job. One day when she's working, it begins to rain. The rain causes her to miss her family in the country, and she makes a sound. The crowd is shocked as she's never moved before. However, instead of feeling sympathy for the girl, one man in the public claims that he caused her to laugh. Other members of the crowd begin to chime in, claiming that they were the ones that caused her to make a noise. Eventually, the group demands that they win a prize, the prize being heavily implied that it is the girl.
