At a family party, a 21-year-old woman meets her cousin, Marwan’s, new girlfriend, Nayla. Nayla is a widow and an engineer. After sitting together, eating food, the woman and Nayla become best friends. They spend hours at Nayla’s house, cooking and baking. They go out to dance and the woman sleeps over at Nayla’s out of convenience. One night, the woman asks Marwan about his relationship with Nayla. He boasts that, because Nayla’s a widow, he’ll never have to marry her, which makes everything easier for him. The woman yells at him, and they get into a fight.
A few days later, the woman is back at Nayla’s house. They are baking a flourless chocolate cake when the woman confesses that she has an older sister who went missing. In turn, Nayla confesses that her husband died in a swimming pool shortly after making it all the way over to where they live now. All of a sudden, Nayla has the idea to go swimming. She pulls the woman along and they drift in the water, floating alongside one another.
