Erin, along with her best friends Kat and Ike all attend the Runner's Ball. The Runner's Ball is an invitation-only party for the runners in the city to feel as if they are a part of the family. Runners do not have a Tell, so they cannot connect to other people in the Wave of the city, making the Ball a perfect way for the runners to be social. In the spirit of having peace, no weapons are allowed and there is a force field to ensure that there is no danger coming into the party. Erin is having a good time with her two best friends Kat and Ike. They dress up, get drinks and tell jokes when she feels an evil presence in the air. She sees her old boss Mya Davenport. Erin then has a flashback about her life working for Mya. Mya is a big crime boss in the city, taking down the other bosses and acquiring their territory, but let the other bosses keep their title so she could control the city under the radar of higher authorities. Mya is the most dangerous person in the city, no one wants to mess with her, so no one does. Erin remembers having to deliver packages and messages for Mya and the only reason that Mya keeps her around is because she is useful. Erin also remembers when she took a detour after a job. She heard a tussle right below her. An older man was trying to shout a secret against Mya and her thugs were trying to kill him in order to silence him. Just as he was about to die, Erin questions the man as to what the secret is. The man reveals that Davenport is trying to produce clones of people, particularly crime bosses around the city. She wants to create an army to take over the city for herself. Erin has not partnered with nor seen Mya. Well, except for tonight. Tonight, Mya comes into the party while everyone is weaponless, and trapped, and vulnerable looking for Erin. Erin as well as her friends make the ultimate decision to fight against Mya and her clone goons. While fighting, Kat gets badly injured losing a lot of blood. Erin begs Ike to help her, but Mya states that she can help. Erin volunteers her services and will do anything that Mya wants if she can help Kat. Mya agrees. Mya agrees and immediately knocks Erin out. When Erin wakes up she is in a new and unknown space and tied to a table. Her clone is the only one comes to greet her.
