The death of humanity has long left the Earth barren. Only massive, powerful machines roam the world: Frost, who rules the North, and Beta-Machine, who rules the South.
Frost seeks to understand man, and eventually, to be one. He is helped by Mordel. Mordel is under the dominion of the machine superpower, Divcom; Frost is under Solcom. All machines have to obey the words of a human. But all of humanity has long been dead, and only their relics remain. Frost devours all traces of humanity in order to understand how he can be human. He looks at art, then creates it. But still, he cannot understand the non-logic of humanity. Frost unearths dead humans frozen in the arctic tundra and studies their physiology. He begins to grow humans.
When Frost successfully transfers his robotic consciousness into a lab-grown human, he commands Solcom and Divcom to work alongside one another to rebuild the Earth. Lonely, Frost asks Beta-Machine if Beta would like to be a human, too, and she agrees.
