Plot Summary
While cornered by the police in a back alleyway, Lucy Wade, a teenage vampire on the run, bribes an attractive club employee into helping her escape. He takes her to his car and introduces himself as Nathan. It is their first time meeting, but they both inexplicably feel like they have known each other for a long time. Lucy explains that she needs to go to Lakefront, a town two hours away, and Nathan agrees to help her cross the checkpoint. They go to a tattoo parlor to change Lucy’s appearance into something more human and get her a fake ID. There, a news station broadcasts Lucy’s photo and reveals that she is the daughter of one of the wealthiest vampires. Nathan’s friend from the tattoo shop sells them out, so they are forced to escape and trick some men on the street into giving them a lift. When Lucy’s identity is discovered at the checkpoint, they speed off to an address that a man slipped to her when she discovered her power. Nathan tells Lucy his personal story about how his family was oppressed and driven into poverty by vampires. He hates all vampires but admits that he is not sure how to feel about her. When they arrive at the address, Lucy and Nathan meet a small group of people in the house, and she realizes too late that they are humans after her power. The group forces her to tell Nathan about the prophecy that a vampire born under the blue moon will be able to grant thirteen humans the power to kill vampires. Lucy and her family realized she was the prophesied vampire after she was able to read an ancient disc containing the method. Bryan, a powerful vampire employed by her family, arrives at the house and defeats the humans so he can kill her. Wanting to create her own vision of the future, Lucy realizes that Nathan is destined to be one of her thirteen humans and grants him the power by saying a chant and biting him. He defeats Bryan and the two escape together. Lucy realizes he now has the power to kill her, but he chooses not to because she is the first of all vampires and humans to treat him so kindly. They share a passionate kiss and prepare for the next blue moon.
