An older man, who claims he was on Broadway, is staying at a hotel. The man has little money and is sick. During the stay, he is accused of stealing a vest. The man vehemently denies these claims and begins to succumb to his illness. He grows so frail that the hotel sends for a doctor, and the doctor reveals that the older man will soon die. As the man lays on his deathbed, the people begin to believe he never stole the vest and apologize to the older man.
The older man later dies, and Meyer, one of the men staying at the hotel is searching through the man's shirt for identification when he discovers that the man is wearing the stolen vest. Meyer tells his friend, and the two men, not wanting to tarnish the older man's name, decide not to reveal the theft.
