Mrs. Brady works as a maid in the dressing room at the Club Français in New York City. She often arrives late to work, but she never comes without her magazine. During the day, the dressing room is swamped with people who pay Mrs. Brady no mind and leave her dismal tips. She’s left to hear their conversations, which range from gossip about their lovers to criticism of the theatrical pieces they just got out of seeing. Despite the street of the day, Mrs. Brady is able to relax by picking up her magazine during her break and losing herself in it.
