Three women have gone missing: a daughter named Vicki, the mother, and Vicki’s friend, Adelle. Adelle had decided to spend the night at Vicki’s after they reunited at a graduation party.

Neighbors give some details, saying a green van and white truck were seen driving slowly around the area. A suspicious man was seen in an army jacket. Police suspect that an intruder targeted the mother but that Vicki and Adelle walked in unexpectedly and were additionally assaulted. 

There are numerous suspects. Most of them, however, including Kay’s estranged husband, are cleared with further evidence. 

From an unknown caller, a reporter receives a call about a mysterious box and sends the police to investigate. They find a floor plan of a recognizable apartment, and police go to search. Graduation party attendees and town members divulge information about their recent encounters with the women. 

People even begin to come in with false evidence and stir up more confusion. Yet months pass with little new information, and the three murdered women soon fade from the spotlight. Their story is never revealed, and their ghosts haunt the dreams of the townspeople.
