Plot Summary
Lee, Kim, Wong, and Huynh are all unsuccessful writers and friends. They attend one of their recurring meetings to discuss their writing. They gather in Lee's apartment to drink and discuss literature all night, all aspiring to fame and renown but as-yet unrecognized for their work. The friends are joined by a girl whose name no one knows and whom everyone assumes someone else invited. The girl gets to know the friends and invites them to participate in a drinking game in which the friends each tell stories about themselves. Kim tells the story of how he gets confused with another writer and eventually decides to merge identities with the other writer. Wong tells the story of how he switched identities with a childhood friend. Huynh tells the story of her time sharing a mattress with her roommate, and Lee recalls her cheating ex-husband. As the night progresses, the unnamed girl reveals that she is not human; rather, she is a beast with the power to improve one person's fortune at the expense of everyone else's. The friends fall asleep and when they wake in the morning, they have no memory of having met the girl. Even so, years later, one of them will become a successful writer and the others never will.
