Andy Harris was a perfectly ordinary man and a good husband. He was ready to be a good father, but when his son is born, he becomes violent. Andy starts to drink, which escalates his violence, and his wife leaves him and takes their son. When his phones rings, Andy hopes it's his wife, but instead the man on the other end tells him it's his biological brother, Kurt. Andy agrees to meet up with Kurt, and despite Andy's new sobriety, they meet at a bar. As the night goes on, Kurt tells Andy about all of his various life accomplishments: good job, married, has a house; then Kurt suggests they go outside to play catch together. They throw for a bit, get into an argument, and then decide to go back into the bar. There, Andy decides to drink and later punches Kurt in the face. They go back to Andy's home where Kurt asks about Andy's ships in bottles. Andy opens up. A few weeks later, Andy meets Kurt's wife at their home, and they begin to imagine a future together as brothers.
