A young paperboy enters a Southern café owned by a snarky man, Leo, in the morning. The boy is called over by an old man, who surprises the boy by declaring that he loves him. The old man tells the boy about his ex-wife, Dodo, who he loved so much but that left him. He spent two years trying to find Dodo, crossing the country to do so, but then he experienced a change of heart. He started pursuing love in other places: meditating, turning to nature, and accepting his fellow man. He tells the boy, once more, “I love you.” The boy leaves, shaken by the strange encounter. He makes eye contact with Leo, who withholds judgment. Unsure of what to think, the boy says the only thing he knows for sure: that old man sure has traveled a lot in his life.
