Two Navaho Indians, Quicker-Than-You and Rabbit Stockings, and a white trader, George Bowman, ride a Chevrolet to shoot a buck. Despite the fact that it is not currently hunting season, the men go anyway as their starvation is reaching an all- time high. Quicker-Than-You is very witty, and makes jaded remarks at Bowman with a bitterness towards whites. He has only struck a deal with the white man to travel without raising suspicion towards his illegal hunting. The men reach a dark forest and comb through the mesa until they come across the buck and his accompanying does. Bowman and Rabbit Stockings both take two shots, but miss. With disappointment, the men drive back towards their hogans. Bowman takes them to his trading post and sends them off with a case of beans. After they leave, Bowman eats his own can of beans, though he is sick of them.
