Plot Summary
A father and son Eloko — fictional creatures that feed off humans, but are between human and plant — are being chased by a group of humans. The humans capture the father and brutally kill him, leaving the son, who it turns out is the last of their kind, alone.
During the chase, the chief's son saw the young Eloko, but decided not to kill him. Afterwards, he approaches the Eloko, and asks to eat his Nyasi, a type of grass that grows on the Eloko. The Eloko agrees, but then as the man is vulnerable, kills him.
The death of the chief’s son drives the chief crazy. He begins desperately searching for the Eloko who killed him, and is soon ousted from his position. Both he and the Eloko are wasting away, left alone and with nothing to live for. One day, the chief finds the Eloko sitting in a tree and asks him to come down. No longer caring if he lives, he joins the man, and the two prepare to share a meal.
