Jeffrey is a salad chef at a Greek restaurant in New Jersey. One morning, when he's on his way to Manhattan, his boss, Jimmy, calls him, and begs him to come back to the restaurant because they're short-staffed on account of an incident that happened that day. Victor, the dessert chef, lunged at a few of the undocumented Thai workers with a knife, and claims that they had eaten his cream puffs. Now, the workers are unwilling to work with him and want to see him punished, but Jimmy isn't the type to punish. Instead, he wants to help, but the two parties aren't willing to cooperate. Victor has a history of mental illness, and at one point was hospitalized, and Jeffrey suggests that it may be beneficial to do so again, though no one agrees with him.
Victor returns to the restaurant at night, which is unusual because he usually finishes his desserts in the afternoon and heads out afterward. Jimmy informs Jeffrey that Victor had called immigration on him to report the Thai workers, but as a way to try to amend the situation, Jimmy gave Victor and the Thai workers raises. Jeffrey sees two immigration workers at the front of the restaurant, so he sets off to find where the Thai workers have gone. He finds them in the fridge where they store desserts with Ethel, the boss's wife, and Victor tied up with the fabric napkins. Ethel tells him that she is showing them the American way of getting justice, which involves gagging Victor with a cream puff and painting his face with chocolate. The Thai workers seem satisfied with this ritual, as they believe that it will avenge their disrespect and restore their honor. Jeffrey at first tries to get them to hide upstairs, but to no avail, so, hearing the immigration outside the fridge on the hunt for them, he resolves to stay in there and hope that they don't find them.
