A massive computer called SUM controls humanity. A male harper wants to resurrect his dead lover, and he hopes to utilize SUM’s power to achieve his goal as SUM claims it can record a soul and resurrect the person. As a result, the harper visits the Dark Queen, a being that SUM created. After some convincing, the Dark Queen lets him visit the computer and warns the harper that it will be dangerous.
When the harper meets SUM in its underground fortress, the computer agrees to resurrect the harper’s lover. However, there are two conditions. First, the harper must teach humanity to praise SUM as a God, and, secondly, the harper must prove his loyalty by leaving the fortress without looking back. The only catch is that the harper's lover will be following him. If the harper looks back, his lover will disappear forever. The harper fails this loyalty test, and the computer refuses to give him a second chance. This causes the harper to go mad, and he creates songs to convince humanity to overthrow SUM. The harper garners great success and defeats SUM with the followers he amassed from his music.
