A sex worker and her companion, Emile, break into a home on Christmas. They are starving and struggle with drugs running through their veins. They ransack the house and note that the home belongs to a mother, a father, and a young boy.
Emile wears the mother’s red dress and leaves it crumpled on the floor. The sex workers stuff their faces with pecan pie and ice cream from the kitchen. They dance together in the family’s clothes and fall asleep. When the sex worker wakes back up, she hears water running in the bathroom and finds Emile dead from taking Valium and brandy.
The sex worker hears her late sister’s voice reminding her to run away and take valuable items from the house. In a panic, she escapes out to the street. The next morning, she is presented with the opportunity to steal a car with a child in it. She knows she can take the car and abandon the child on the side of the road but decides to spare the child’s life, walking instead.
