Dr. Rene Reynolds has developed a new medical technology called a Neuro-Enhancer that has successfully cured her patients of Parkinson's disease and even some cancers. This new technology is particularly crucial as health problems in the United States reach an all-time high, with sixty-five percent of Caucasians battling skin cancer because of the depletion of the ozone layer. While Dr. Reynolds is presenting her findings to a group of doctors, she recognizes Dr. Randall Sinclair in the crowd. In recent years, Dr. Sinclair has developed a treatment for skin cancer that involves grafting skin from dark-skinned ethnic groups onto white bodies. However, the treatment is very expensive, whereas Dr. Reynolds's Neuro-Enhancer is affordable and can be mass-produced and distributed.
Some time later, Rene finds herself being dragged by two large men carrying hunting knives. Rene feels weak from pain and cannot break free from her captors. They drag her to a trailer, and when they open it, Rene sees over fifty men, women, and children packed inside, all African-American like herself. Once in the trailer, she turns and sees crates of ice and layers of bloody, black human skin.
Leon feels he is being called by someone and led to them, so he is on a mission to find and rescue them. The man is led to a livestock building, and, though it is heavily guarded, he manages to crawl under the fence and find the door without being noticed. Once inside, he is horrified to see about a hundred black people shackled like slaves. As he observes them more closely, their glassy eyes reveal to him that they have been drugged. On the other side of the building he recognizes Rene, the woman he is here to rescue.
