Theresa Latimer is an artist who begins painting in the 1980s at the Rhode Island School of Design. Over the five decades of her career, she captures a variety of scenes: homelessness, domestic turmoil, fires, child abuse, and various other tragedies. She falls in love with a woman, Magda, who becomes one of her main subjects, despite her family’s disapproval of the women’s relationship. Magda eventually dies of cancer, a scene that Latimer captures brilliantly, a few years before her killing herself out of desolation.
