Plot Summary
Ben and Claudius, both undergraduate students at Columbia, crash a party in Brooklyn. There, they spot Iris and Sybil, two graduates of Hunter College, and immediately decide to pursue them. After they drink and dance with them, Ben and Claudius decide to play their signature game in the hopes of winning the women over. Their game, like a scripted comedy act, is to tell the most shameful story they can think of to the group. Claudius tells the women that in high school he put on a kind of sex show for his creepy elderly neighbor. Ben tells the group about the time his father showed him his magazine nudes, but when Ben's mother found out, she was furious. The women are unimpressed and a bit disturbed by the stories and leave the men. For the rest of the party, Ben can't stop thinking about his story. A few months after the incident Ben's mother divorced his father because she felt fetishized rather than loved. Ben still has not forgiven his mother. After they leave unsuccessful, Ben and Claudius head home when they spot Iris and Sybil on bicycles. Iris falls and cuts her arm, so Ben offers to walk them home. As the four walk drunkenly, a rabid dog appears in the road. It barks and growls at them and the men inch backwards, but Sybil rushes forward and kicks the dog. Iris joins in and with a few more kicks the dog lays still in the road. The men are invited in after they arrive at the women's apartment. The women take charge immediately, and cause some embarrassment for Ben and Claudius. The two pairs have sex, but Ben is self-conscious throughout because of his submissive position. Almost ten years later, at his father's funeral, Ben thinks of that night and is glad he took his father's advice to have at least one wild night of sex with an adventurous woman.
