When Susannah asks her father Graham to meet her lover Rose, he suggests they, along with his own girlfriend, Carol, all go skiing for a weekend.
On the trail, Rose falls often, and Graham begins to question why he planned the trip in the first place. While everyone bathes back at the house, Graham wonders what women discuss when there are no men around.
Later, the three women talk while Graham cooks dinner in the other room. When he walks in to offer more wine, Graham interrupts a tense conversation about Rose's past experience with sexual assault and Carol's teen pregnancy. The tension eventually lifts and the group sits down for dinner. After he learns more about Rose, Graham realizes that he only disliked her because he was jealous of her closeness to Susannah. Graham reflects on his failures and successes as a father.
That night, Rose awakens during a snow storm. She is afraid and disoriented until she sees Susannah in bed beside her.
