Fearing her father's cruelty, a young girl is determined to save a bird trapped in the attic. Things spiral out of control when she realizes that her intervention has proved to be worse than anything her father could have done.

Unwilling to return to boarding school, a girl begs her mother to let her leave. But when her father becomes involved, she must come to terms with the hatred she feels for her mother's weakness and dependence on alcohol.

Forced to move to a new house, a family struggles to make the best of their situation, but then an accusation of theft turns father against son. In the aftermath, the father hopes it is not too late to salvage his relationship with the son.
