When Rachel is captured and imprisoned in Love and Dignity for Everyone. A futuristic dystopian version of a conversion therapy camp, Love and Dignity for Everyone utilizes technology to transfer the consciousness of trans and other "broken" people into the "correct" type of body. Rachel is to be transferred into the corpse of a blond man. As the procedure begins, the heavily-sedated Rachel's only hope of escape lies with Jeffery.
A former childhood friend of Rachel's, Jeffery now works as a manager in the Love and Dignity for Everyone. But as Rachel's consciousness begins to transfer into the male corpse assigned to her, all her attempts to reach Jeffery fail, and both recall the painful fractures that grew between them in their youth—differences that came to a head when Sherri, the girl Jeffrey liked, fell in love with Rachel instead.
Jeffery is too complicit in the workings of Love and Dignity to help, and it is already too late to stop the consciousness transfer process, which will complete itself even if the machines are disconnected. When she realizes this, Rachel lures Jeffery close by telling him she knows what he did to Sherri when they were young (uploaded revenge porn that drove Sherri out of town), and when he is off-guard, Rachel uses her remaining command of her own body to stab him, steal his card and escape the facility with the corpse in close pursuit. She reaches a river, recalling she and Jeffrey playing together in such a place as children, when they were still innocent enough to release the crayfish they captured. In a last attempt at win her freedom by losing the pursuing male body or dying in the attempt, Rachel throws herself off a waterfall.
