A young male writer is hired by the prince to write a story about the land the prince is governing. However, when the prince's life is in danger, the writer tries to protect his employer at all costs.

Plot Summary
In this futuristic world influenced by Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Western culture, a famous writer, Benjamin Rosenbaum, visits the prince, that controls numerous territories such as Thule. The prince wants to hire Rosenbaum to write about the history of Thule since the prince has taken over Thule, and many citizens are against his rule. He hopes that by having the writer write about the history of Thule, it will inspire and quell his restive subjects. However, during Rosenbaum's visit with the prince, the prince is poisoned by an assassin that makes him fall unconscious. The prince needs the antidote, in order to return to normal. Believing that the assassin has the cure, Rosenbaum immediately chases after the assassin and realizes that it is the prince's consort's sister. The assassin escapes, and Rosenbaum discovers a pirate ship. Wanting to learn why the pirate ship is here, he sneaks onto the vessel and discovers that the pirates took the prince hostage by infiltrating the castle when the prince was put unconscious.
Rosenbaum also discovers that the prince's allies are currently chasing the pirates down. The pirates discover and capture the writer and lock him up with the prince. The prince's allies are gaining speed, and the pirates decide to let the prisoners go so that the allies don't catch the pirates. As the pirates discuss what to do with the prisoners, the assassin sneaks onto the ship, and Rosenbaum wonders why she returned. He then realizes that the assassin never wanted to kill the prince but protect him. Her goal was to kidnap the prince to safety when she put him in an unconscious state. The allies, Rosenbaum, realizes want the prince killed as they discovered that the prince actually wants to help the rebels of Thule. As a result, the allies had the pirates take the prince, as they hoped that the pirates would kill the prince so that they could dispose of the problem.
Rosenbaum realizes that if the allies find out that the prince is alive, they will kill him. The allies get to the pirate ship and attack the ship. During the fight, the assassin, Rosenbaum, and the unconscious prince board a craft and try to fly away. Sadly, the writer doesn't know how to fly the craft, and all the passengers are ejected from the ship. The last thing the writer sees is the assassin rescuing the prince with her glider. As the writer falls from the sky, he reminisces on his life and begins to die.
