Plot Summary
A girl Crea is abused by her father, Nahad Eri-Devi, especially when he is drunk. He beats her because she reminds him of his late first wife, and because he misses owning any type of property, he takes it out on Crea as the mere sight of her reminds Nahad of his wife. He is able to get away with such a crime because his sons are not around and the only person there for her is a servant. Therefore, she is an easy target. One day, Nahaad has very important people as guests in the house. Crea's only friend, Na-Ma, suggests that she wear her mother's dress in order to have one of the guests offer to have her hand in marriage so she can escape her father's wrath. She does and her plan works; her father is given an offer for her hand. She is married off to the eldest son of Shiar Muetal Gedar, Balem. They move away and start a family together. Crea loves her husband, but her husband does not feel as though she does and worries. He feels that Crea does not show her love, just her loyalty, which is completely different. One day, Crea receives a letter from her father stating that he lost all of his assets, asking for her help and therefore, forgiveness. She agrees to visit him and help him with his problem. While traveling, her husband asks her to visit a temple to pray to the God of love and ask for the ability to love as he is still not certain she loves him. She agrees and visits the temple. When Crea visits her father, she wants to hurt him the way he hurt her for her whole life. However, something in her heart changes into something she recognizes as love—even her husband realizes this. She then accepts it, and forgives her father for his abuse.
