The protagonist, an unnamed person living in an unknown location on Earth, is one day seized by a spirit. The spirit floods the protagonist's consciousness, making the protagonist aware of the loneliness of intergalactic existence and the majestic body of spirit that the human species is not aware of. The protagonist names this spirit the Yakshantariksh. As the protagonist continues to live, the Yakshantariksh seems to occupy other beings as well, although it returns to the protagonist. The protagonist hypothesizes about the origins of the Yakshantariksh, about its snake shape and its location outside of her galaxy, about the questions the spirit can answer, and about that which must be left alone. Ultimately, the protagonist acknowledges how his/her/their recent fancies could be deep wisdom or veiled insanity–either way, the protagonist welcomes them.
