In the suburbs, a married couple listens to their neighbors have a violent fight. They’ve long gotten used to their neighbors’ violent tendencies and have stopped feeling bad for either of them. Nevertheless, the fight wakes them up, so they turn on the TV. They start off watching Johnny Carson, but then they switch to the movie El Dorado. The wife falls asleep, but the husband stays up, thinking about how horrible it is that we all get used to such unfulfilling daily routines. He dozes off, dreaming about an exploration movie he’d like to make, where the travelers come across an unknown land full of glistening potential.
