Plot Summary
Claude and Bob sit on a frozen lake ice fishing while they recount the trauma of this fishing trip. Deep in Washington's woods, the two own a cabin near a lake in Snoqualmie National Forest. When they a in the cabin, a Native American man entered, reeking of death and covered in blood. Suspicious, they investigate him and he introduces himself as Jimbo and begins to recount his own story. Long ago, when only indigenous people inhabited the area, a black crow landed atop a cabin in his tribe. It spoke to them, leading them to believe that it was either a god or a skinwalker. That night, a wild raucous is heard from the cabin the bird landed on, and in the morning the tribe finds that the entire family has been murdered except for the husband who committed the acts. The brother of the murdered wife then murders the husband. This cycle continues on and on, with the crow landing on someone's cabin and the tribe finding a slaughter in the morning, only for the last remaining survivor to be killed for revenge. This split the tribe and when their numbers were dangerously low, they fled the woods and the crow, hoping that he just wanted their land. Bob and Claude are no less uneasy after hearing his story and inquire about the blood he's covered in. A black crow begins viciously clawing at the window and Jimbo stands up but Claude knocks him down by slamming his metal fishing chest into his face. With hooks stuck into his skin, Jimbo begins to get up again, laughing, but Bob impales him with an auger. Bob and Claude take Jimbo's body and dump it into the lake. Once they are back in the cabin, there is a flurry of snow at the window and the crow has returned.
