A series of letters reveal the unofficial history of the US. In 1966, people are protesting the war in Vietnam and racial inequality, demanding Civil Rights. The protestors are met with a violent police crackdown everywhere they oppose. This violence exacerbates the protestors, and one person takes extreme measures to get their message across. During the 1968 Democratic Convention, a protestor bombs the event, killing President Johnson, Hubert Humphrey, and other top Democratic candidates, officials, and politicians. Robert F. Kennedy, one of the candidates for president, survives the bombing. However, when the police come to the scene, they mistake him as the culprit and shoot and kill him.
With so much chaos and no one to lead America, the army takes over the government. The military turns the USA into a military dictatorship, and segregation occurs in every state; citizens cannot travel without permits within the United States, and top-paying jobs are reserved only for white citizens. Additionally, the government gives conditional citizenship to some of Asian heritage born in the United States.
