In a fictional ancient world in Asia, a historical peace treaty signed on Five Peak Island between the Sixth Emperor and the Great Sea Dragon warlord was initially thought to have resulted from their diplomatic correspondence. However, historians now believe that each of the leaders’ translators purposefully and collaboratively mistranslated their superior’s missives to prevent war.  During the initial negotiation meetings, the emperor’s translator, Divine Supreme, fell in love with the warlord’s translator, Upright Lotus. The man and woman, respectively, revealed to each other their leaders’ military incompetence and agreed that a war would be mutually destructive. The pair then manipulated the correspondence between the two leaders so as to make them apprehensive of the other’s forces and constructed a peace treaty that appealed to both men’s egos.  With the war averted, it is unclear whether the translators were able to reunite.  A closing transmission admonishes the historian for failing to explicate the role of the female Upright Lotus, whose legacy has been eroded by the patriarchy.
