Plot Summary
When Philip K. awoke one morning, he discovered he had turned into a Mars-sized tomato. Days passed, and Philip K. experienced the feelings of being both a planet (having an atmosphere) and being a tomato (being coated in morning dew).
Two years prior to turning into a planet-sized tomato, Philip K. was laid off from his job as an aerospace engineer. He also went through a breakup with Lydia P. As a tomato, Philip K. fantasizes about Lydia P. landing on him, or even taking a juicy bite of his tomato flesh.
Two years in, Philip K. realized he had grown to his full size. He considered what would happen next — would he now rot in space? He considered suicide. One day, Philip K. spotted some winged objects floating toward his orbit. He named them Myrmidopterans. Initially, they were beautiful, but they quickly overtook his line of vision and rendered him utterly blind. Throughout the years, the Myrmidopterans gnawed away at Philip K, and the feeling wasn't painful. It was blissful.
When another planet exploded nearby, the Myrmidopterans pushed Philip K. into another universe to save him. As Philip K. travelled through universes, he had a breakthrough. Being consumed was the fate of humankind.
