In the future, where the world is covered with garbage, a young boy, Danilo, finds a newborn baby creature in a garbage heap. He takes it home as a pet and feeds it scraps of metal and rats. It grows tall and powerful, with tentacles and beaks and horns. At the same time, a scientist, Reya, finds a similar creature in a pile of floating garbage in the ocean. Danilo brings the baby home as a pet and Reya brings the creature to a science lab to be studied and dissected. Eventually, the creatures grow up and more of them begin to pop up across the world, monsters made of garbage and flesh that kill humans on occasion. At first, people don't believe the footage, but eventually the monsters are too numerous to avoid. Anywhere there is trash and rubble, the creatures pop up. People move away from the cities and garbage and monsters, and Danilo is one of the few people left. Reya's monster carries her out into the ocean where she lives out her days on a garbage raft. The people on earth are fewer, and they live away from the cities, and their institutions have failed them, but they still scrap out a meager existence, adapting to the garbage monsters as just another change in the long history of the universe.
