A daughter explains why her mother didn't become a nun. Since she was young, her mother has dreamed of becoming a nun. However, her Italian American parents are against this notion as they believe women should marry men. The mother's brother, Tony, tries everything to stop her. One day, he tries to set her up with a man that owns a grocery store, and the mom immediately rejects the proposal. Multiple men come up into the mother's life, all wanting to marry her, but she remains steadfast in her decision.
When she turns 21, she is ready to go to the nunnery. With no more options left, Tony yells at her while she's in the house. One of the workers, a young man the same age as the mom, steps in and stops Tony. The mom instantly falls in love with the man, and every day the man asks her mother for food. Eventually, the mother tells the worker to have lunch with her, and two months later, they move to another town and get married. They have one daughter, and the mom gives up her dream of becoming a nun.
