Gideon Starr is an undercover agent sent by a corrupt company to infiltrate a revolutionary research facility. He pretends he’s a scientific reporter to talk to Hank Shields, the head of the program and his target. Shields and Starr used to work for the same company before Shields left and founded a research facility that developed the ability to talk to dolphins.
Starr quickly infiltrates the facility, and he waits to find the perfect moment to get Shields alone. During Starr's stay, he learns about Shield’s loving family, the revolutionary work with the dolphins, and how the ability to control dolphins can improve numerous industries, such as fishing. When Starr finally gets Shield alone, Starr falters. He reveals his true identity and tells Shields that the company wants to kill him. Starr also reveals that the head of the company hates dolphins and wants to destroy the research in the lab. The two men agree to fake Shield's death. Shield flees the country, and Starr tells the company that his mission is complete.
