A 33-year-old woman writes in her diary about her life during an apocalyptic event. At first, she lives in Scotland with her husband, G., where there’s not enough food and refugees from other European countries are constantly coming in. The protagonist hopes she won’t get pregnant because she knows that she wouldn’t have the energy and the baby would likely die.
Shortly after losing one of her friends during childbirth, G. suggests that they start walking to Russia. The trip is hard: they’re constantly hungry and the rain soaks them. Eventually, the protagonist gets captured by a man named M., who rapes her, and she loses sight of G. Nevertheless, she keeps her spirit up. She gets to the last line of her diary and wishes for good luck for the future; she knows she’ll need it.
