A car swerves onto a sidewalk, aiming straight at a woman. A man, Wysten Turner, pulls her back in time, saving her. From behind a satin mask, she asks him if he is English and if he can meet her that night. He agrees.
Turner is outside the woman’s apartment at 10pm. He is let in, but she tells him she must take him to another place in order to speak.
She refuses to answer his questions directly while they are on their way in the cab. While in the vehicle, a screen in the front annoys Turner, as it is displaying a wrestling match between little Zirk and a woman.
Inside a club, Turner starts complimenting her, but she turns the conversation to whether he can help her get to England. She tells him she must get away because she is very frightened, naming a long list of things that frighten her, ending with wrestlers.
She explains that wrestlers often lose and then take out their frustration on a girl. He promises to help her. Three men, who had been in the aggressively driven car, approach. One of them is little Zirk, the wrestler, and he talks to the masked woman, Theda, in a way that clearly shows they know each other. Turner tells him that he is helping her run away to England. He answers that any trained 14-year-old girl could cripple them if they wanted to – including Theda.
Theda will not leave with Turner despite his repeated asking. He ends up punching little Zirk, only to be attacked by Theda, who is defending him. She goes to take care of little Zirk.
Turner rips Theda’s mask off and is disgusted by the feelings he sees on her face. He walks away, played, and plans on sailing back to England.
