An older gentleman walks around his hometown of New York City and reminisces about the life he used to live there, only to find his home is not as familiar as he thought.

The gas man falls and breaks his leg at a customer's house, and instead of calling for help, the customer keeps him company for hours and talks to him about his wife's imminent death.
