In a dystopian future in an unnamed city, mobsters kill a young man named Rack due to his failure to revive their Ganymede mobster client's beloved son and heir. Rack's partner Rhys—a jaded, violent, and bitter cyborg—is tasked with going into his consciousness to get the son and him back out.

When she tries to rescue him, she fights a younger version of herself, who Rack created to serve as the son's mental security system. Along the way, Rhys realizes she loves Rack, and she comes up with a plan to put his consciousness in her body. In the end, she manages to join him by settling her consciousness on the son's, and they break free of the mob.
