Plot Summary
Clea is visiting Belle Mer, the name of the estate her grandmother owns. Everyone thought she would inherit it. Mary and Jack, siblings who worked for her grandmother, still work for the new owner, Stephen. Jack reveals that Mary had been a surrogate for a wealthy lady in town, and Stephen knew how ashamed the grandma would be, so he blackmailed her. Clea recalls when she knew Stephen as a friend. They had kissed and made love. Then, after he took the house, she sued him for taking advantage of the grandmother, but she lost.
Clea goes to the inn to find Stephen, but the woman says he is at Belle Mer. She returns and is assured by Jack and Mary that they'll figure out a solution and get Clea her house back. She falls asleep. But in the middle of the night, someone attacks her with a shovel. She passes out. She wakes up buried alive in the sand. Next to her is Stephen's dead body.
Something draws her to Jack and Mary's rooms — but they aren't there. She finds them in her grandmother's bedroom, tangled in each other's arms.
