A woman attempts to move her survival supplies from her shack to a nearby cave when the entrance collapses. She is trapped in the cave. She learns to survive off of the fish that swim in a river that runs through the cave, and years pass. She initially keeps track of the time, but eventually stops. When she realizes that she is on her last few candles, she tries her best to get out of the cave. In the process, she sprains her ankle. After she recovers, she has another idea to get out of the cave: to swim up the river that the fish come from. She ties a rope and tries to swim out, but the rope is too short. She unties the rope and tries to swim to freedom with all of her strength.
