A psychologist visits his longtime companion, Fran, in her apartment. Despite their contrary views on pretty much everything, the psychologist insists he enjoys analyzing and understanding Fran as they try to decide on a vacation to take. He continually derides the musicians playing outside of Fran's apartment, while she appreciates their enthusiasm. She asks to go to Trinidad, while he recommends many other locations.
The psychologist begins to question Fran on why she's so set on Trinidad, bringing up examples of songs she heard when they last visited that made her emotional or attractive men she encountered. Frustrated with his misguided attempts at telling her about herself, Fran says she must clean and leaves the room.
The psychologist finds her and apologizes. He says Trinidad seems like the perfect place to visit, and they agree to try a tropical vacation there. The psychologist says Fran must be grateful to get away from "all of this" even though she likes her environment far more than he does.
