Plot Summary
An unnamed Armenian man from Fresno, California, is fascinated with hummingbirds as they are highly active in his area during the summertime and exceptionally resilient. The man learned about the hummingbird's endurance after witnessing a hummingbird that did not leave his neighborhood in the winter. In the middle of winter, he was walking down the street when he spotted an old Armenian man holding a hummingbird. The man inspected the bird and discovered that the animal was injured. He feared that the bird would not survive, but the older man disagreed. The older man lifted his hand to his mouth and blew warm air on the bird. The older man then told the man to warm a tablespoon of honey to pour it into the older man's hand. The man did as described, and the hummingbird began to show signs of new life. The man was shocked at the bird's fast recovery, and the bird flew away. Later in the summer, the man visits the older man and asks if the bird lives. The older man instead points at the hummingbirds, now active during the summer. He then tells the man that each of the hummingbirds is their bird.
