One night, Ma Laja murders the owner of a shoe store. She steals a pair of shoes that fit over her two feet — one human foot, and one cow hoof. As she walks out into the night, men cat-call her from afar. She walks down a dark alleyway and a man approaches. He asks why she's not afraid to walk alone. She asks for a smoke, and then murders him, too.
Each night, Ma Laja murders a different man. As she continues to kill, word gets around. One night, Ma Laja encounters a man in a cemetery. He says he saw her shoes in the paper. When she goes to kill him, he fights back. She strangles him, and as his life fades, Ma Laja remembers her past life. She used to be Phylisia.
When police officers arrive, Ma Laja realizes the man was a girl in disguise. Then, Ma Laja realizes she herself is dead. The officers give the other girl CPR and when they revive her, Ma Laja's curse spreads to the new girl and makes her leg furry.
