Milt Chapman and Jess Rivoni, two men in the military, often get into arguments and try to bother each other. When Milt takes a bed away from Jess, the other men start to worry. They tell Milt that Jess will retaliate. When payday comes around, the Sergeant sets up a dice game, and Jess plans to double his pay through winning the game. Milt begins to bet against Jess, and all the other men take a step back; they can tell that this is a personal fight for the two men. Milt beats Jess and takes the entire pot of money. Jess storms out and retur to his own tent (that he shares with Milt and others). He notices that Milt's lock on his locker has been left open, and switches it with the lock on his own locker. Jess pretends to be asleep when Milt comes back to drop off his money into his locker. Later, when he is alone again, Jess opens Milt's locker, but Milt comes back just as Jess finds the money. Jess turns the lights off, screams, and runs past Milt with a knife. The other men get Jess into the bathrooms and Milt disarms him. Milt proceeds to beat Jess up badly, and then the Sergeant sends Jess away.
