Plot Summary
Lola is the daughter of Kathy, a single mom who raises her and her cousin, Tallulah, together. Despite not knowing who her father is, one day when Lola gets sent home after biting another girl, Kathy beats her, saying she is a monster just like her father. That night, Lola undergoes an extreme transformation that she realizes in the morning was molting: Lola has the ability to turn into a snake, shedding her human body in the process.
Ami, Kathy's sister and Tallulah's mom, insists on seeing their brother, Kenny, who is in prison for robbery. Kathy is steadfast, declining outright. Regardless, once Kenny is let out, Ami brings him to Kathy's house unannounced. Kathy is completely uncomfortable, especially with every finger Kenny lays on her.
Soon, Kenny is insisting that Kathy and Lola move into their parent's house with him. Once in the house, Kathy is timid and finally reveals to Lola that Kenny is her father: he had raped her in the hopes of replacing his family while grieving the loss of his father. Kathy asks if Lola can also transform, revealing that it is an inherited gift. She tells her to pack essentials, transform, and slither out of the house undetected; Kathy will follow suit, once she kills Kenny. She exits the room, but before long, Kenny enters, revealing that he killed Kathy and stored her in the freezer. That night, he rapes Lola, as Tallulah watches from outside the window.
When he goes to bed, Tallulah enters and helps Lola and the two of them transform, then go to kill Kenny. Taking the money he has from robberies, the two escape into the night to create a new life as lovers, renaming themselves Eliza and Georgia.
