Plot Summary
With her family of singers surrounding her, Mama begins to sing as usual to fight away the demons that possess her and her family, but her voice fails. Mama collapses, hitting her head. Without her singing, Mama's daughter sleeps with nightmares of monsters. The daughter wakes up and finds Papa tucking Mama into bed; Mama is half-dead. Papa has decided not to take Mama to the hospital because the doctors will ask too many questions. The family takes Mama's body to their grandmother. At Grandma's house, the family begin to sing in hopes of curing Mama, but it makes her worse. The family brings her back home, and attempt to sing again. This time, Mama dies, then vomits her grotesque body out of her skin, and attacks each of her family members like the nightmares the daughter had. The family's curse unravels without Mama's singing. Even so, the daughter embraces her mother as her mother attacks her.
