A middle-aged mother's life revolves around her judgmental husband, Martin, and vain teenage daughter, Deidre. Martin criticizes his wife for gaining weight, and Deidre neglects the horse that her mother purchases for her birthday, leaving the mother to take care of everything and bear all of their criticism silently. One day, Deidre goes out on a date. Martin and the mother walk quietly. They admit that they both resent Deidre to some extent, and they have passionate sex for the first time in a while. Deidre calls them, crying about her date. Martin goes to Deidre’s room and throws away all of her cosmetics, while her mother comforts her. At night, the mother takes Deidre’s horse out for a ride, and she feels at peace for once.
